Better Optics was opened in 1992 by Rick Sewell. He has been in optical industry as a licensed optician since 1972 before venturing out to open an optical lab of his own. This no doubt gave him a better understanding of how important the quality of the finished product is for his patients and he prides himself in that to this day. He remains a licensed optician with continuing education in the latest products and lenses available.

Working alongside Rick since the doors opened is our lab manager, Darrell Shipp. His knowledge and understanding for optics far surpasses most competitors. From surfacing to finishing, he has experience in all areas. He is an asset to our customers because of the years of experience and can often answer difficult questions and trouble shoot the most difficult jobs with a successful outcome. He works closely with all of the day to day operations in the lab to ensure the finished product exceeds the patient’s expectations.

Working closely with Rick and Darrell is our office manager. Glenda came to Better Optics in 2008 as a customer service rep. Through the years, she has developed relationships with our customers and strives to meet their customer’s needs daily. She oversees the day to day operations and helps our customers troubleshoot any issues their patients may be having. She oversees the well trained and knowledgeable customer service team to ensure the customers are satisfied with the quality they are receiving.

Office Manager

William started with Better Optics in 2012. He serves the Southeast territory. William has been a licensed optician since 1986 as a graduate from Dekalb Tech in optical dispensary. He managed a high end optical dispensary for 20 years and was a frame rep for the next 8 before coming to Better Optics. He has been in the optical business for many years and has a genuine interest in making sure that our quality is second to none. He stays current on the continuing education of the ever changing optical world to stay up to date on the latest products we offer.
